2009-2001 Vancouver Biennale: "in-TRANSIT-ion" 2

Every two years the Vancouver Biennale assembles a public exhibition of artwork created by world-class international artists.  They do this to celebrate the city's public spaces and bringing the public in to experience the best new and world renowned talents in contemporary art.  With such diverse displays the group is fostering an open dialogue about the art and the importance of it in the city's public spaces.  This current exhibition is focused on city transit.  All of the artwork, for this two-year engagements can be found along the city's bicycle routes, at the Vancouver International Airport (which seems kind of unsustainable to me), at the Canada Line stations, as well as being wrapped on some of the buses and rapid transit trains of the city.  They want to emphasize how people physically move themselves around the city, as well as the changing sensibilities people have toward public art.
